In the 15th century, Foulques III d'Agoult had a castle built (what is today the “Château-vieux”) on the ruins of a 12th century fortress. The Château itself is a proud and splendid beast and Lourmarin's key cultural focus. In the walls below the castle there is a wine shop / cave that is open to the public and can be reached without paying to enter the castle. It's not super impressive inside.We passed a pleasant hour doing this tour. Saved by Terry Courtney. So not great value for money.
