It started with my mom as a teenager and now I'm bringing my kids along with my sister's family and some family friends. I love this place!On our recent visit to the park we biked it and found the ride enjoyable ( flat terrain), informative (wild animals abound) and fun. If you love the outer banks, but only want a day trip, then Assateague is the place.It used to be tradition to go camping with my father for Father's Day. (guess they like the state side like us}.Went down to Ocean City for the day and decided to visit Assateague at the last minute. The Assateague wild ponies are among the favorite inhabitants of the island, as well as, sika deer. The national park has cold water and chemical toilets, but pets are allowed. So either we are suckers or this place is pretty great.We went to assateague for the first time the beach is the best white sand, great waves to play in the kids love the boogie board , we went for a long walk and there were many great shells .
